Detachment 430 marks “Air Force Day” at Ole Miss

Cadets from the University of Mississippi's Air Force ROTC, Detachment 430 present arms during “Air Force Day” festivities before a University of Mississippi football game. The cadet formation and color guard led the sell-out crowd of over 60,000 in a salute to the colors as a C-17 from the Mississippi Air National Guard roared over the stadium. Fans were also thrilled to see the Air Force Inspire Tour on site for their first-ever visit to a college football game. Tailgating took on a whole new meaning as football fans flew simulators, experienced the “Extreme Equilibrium” gyro-ride and peeked in the cockpit of an F-16. (U.S. Air Force photo)

The University of Notre Dame's Air Force ROTC Detachment 225 held its annual Dining Out Oct. 15, which featured a Notre Dame alumnus and NASA astronaut, retired Col. Michael T. Good. Colonel Good recently returned from Space Shuttle Mission #STS-125, the repair of the Hubble Satellite. The event was attended by cadets from Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Holy Cross College, Valparaiso University, Bethel College, Indiana University South Bend and Trine University. Fourteen cadets, cadre and family members from the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 755 joined more than 8,000 participants in the fifth annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure held in San Juan, Puerto Rico Oct. 11. The annual event raises awareness for breast cancer and this year’s race broke the record for the number of participants.
