Florida Air Force ROTC cadets demonstrate 'service before self'

Sixteen cadets from the University of South Florida’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 158 recently demonstrated the “service before self” core value of the Air Force by volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries, a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides outreach and prevention services for the homeless in the greater Tampa Bay area. The cadets worked in various areas throughout the organization to include the kitchen, park, parlor and relaxation room and accumulated a combined total of 48 community service hours. AF birthday run continues through rain

Despite a downpour, cadets from Puerto Rico continued a 62-mile relay run in celebration of the 62nd birthday of the U.S. Air Force Sept. 18. The cadets are part of Detachment 755 at the University of Puerto Rico Piedras. More than 90 cadets and cadre ran individually or in groups, passing a baton from runner to runner as they completed their "Air Force" mile. The cadets completed the 62 miles in eight hours and 37 minutes, which came under their goal of nine hours. For the last mile, the cadet wing joined Wing Commander, Cadet Col. Five Air Force ROTC technical sergeants graduated from the Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Maxwell's Gunter Annex June 30.
